Confirm the active output
Disconnect Bluetooth earbuds, cars and speakers. Check the media output panel and make sure sound is coming from the phone itself. Raise the correct volume stream while audio is playing.
Restart the phone if the route appears stuck, then compare more than one app.
Separate calls from media
The earpiece used during calls and the lower loudspeaker used for media are different components. If calls are quiet but videos are normal, inspect call volume, the upper mesh and call routing rather than the main speaker.
If every output is quiet, check system limits, accessibility audio settings and whether a case or protector blocks an opening.
Look for moisture or debris
Remove the case and inspect the grille under good light without inserting anything. Recent rain, shower steam or a spill can temporarily muffle a speaker.
Use one water-eject cycle only when water exposure is plausible. Sound is not a substitute for manufacturer-approved cleaning when debris is compacted.
Understand the limit of boosting
A browser volume booster can raise a local media file, but it cannot restore a damaged driver or exceed the phone’s clean hardware output. Added gain may also expose clipping already present in the recording.
If the speaker is consistently quiet across clean sources after checks and drying time, arrange service.
