Online volume booster: what it changes and what it cannot fix

A volume booster changes the playback level of media. It does not increase the physical capability of a speaker or repair the reason it became quiet.

What digital gain does

Digital gain multiplies the audio signal before it reaches the device output. It can make a quiet recording easier to hear when the system has unused headroom.

If the recording is already near its maximum level, extra gain can clip peaks and create harsh distortion without producing useful clarity.

Why gain is not speaker repair

A blocked grille, wet diaphragm, damaged driver or weak amplifier remains physically limited. Pushing a louder signal into that problem can make buzzing more obvious.

Use the speaker test and physical-symptom checklist before assuming the file needs more gain.

Protect hearing and hardware

Start low, raise the gain gradually and stop at the first sign of discomfort or sharp distortion. Set headphone volume before putting headphones on.

Do not use boosted playback as a continuous solution for one quiet earbud; the healthy side may receive an unsafe level.
