Bluetooth Lag
Gunshot sound delayed? Footsteps hearing late? Here is how to fix audio latency in PUBG, COD, and Free Fire instantly.
POV: You spot an enemy. You shoot. But you don’t hear the *BANG* until 0.5 seconds later. By then, you’re already spectating your teammates.
This is called Bluetooth Latency. It’s basically “Ping” for your ears.
Standard Bluetooth headphones have a delay of 200ms. In a ranked match, that is an eternity. We need to get that number down to 60ms or less so your audio syncs perfectly with your screen.
Spoiler Alert: Using your in-game mic is probably ruining your audio. Read Method #3 to see why.
Method 1: Unlock the “Secret Menu”
Android hides the pro audio settings to keep casuals from messing them up. Let’s unlock them to force your phone to prioritize Speed over Quality.
- Go to Settings > About Phone.
- Tap Build Number 7 times fast. (You’ll see “You are now a Developer!”).
- Go back to System > Developer Options.
- Find Bluetooth Audio Codec.
- Switch it from SBC (Trash) to aptX or AAC (Fast).
Method 2: The “Hidden Button”
If you have earbuds from brands like Realme, OnePlus, Razer, or Anker, they likely have a hidden “Gaming Mode.”
This mode deliberately lowers the audio quality slightly (less bass) to boost the transmission speed by 50%.
Usually Triple Tap or Long Press (3s) on both earbuds. Listen for the sound effect (Engine rev or Sword unsheathe).
Latency drops from 200ms to 60-80ms. Instant advantage.
Method 3: Stop Using In-Game Voice ๐ค
This is the #1 reason audio sounds bad.
When you turn on your mic in PUBG or COD, Bluetooth switches to “Call Mode” (Hands-Free Profile). This turns your audio into Mono (trash quality) and increases lag.
Turn OFF your in-game mic. Use Discord on a separate device (or in the background if your phone can handle it) for voice chat. This keeps your game audio in high-quality Stereo mode.
Wired vs. Wireless: The Truth

| Standard Bluetooth | 200ms (High) | ๐ Unplayable |
| Gaming Mode (TWS) | 60ms (Okay) | ๐ Casual Play |
| Wired / USB-C | 0ms (Zero) | ๐ Pro / Ranked |
Rapid Fire FAQ
Kinda. iOS doesn’t let you change codecs. Your best bet is to unpair/repair your AirPods or buy a “Made for iPhone” gaming dongle.
Vehicles move fast. If your audio buffer is high (200ms), the car moves faster than the sound file can trigger. Switch to wired headphones for driving.
Is your speaker sounding crunchy?
If you raged and spilled Mountain Dew on your phone, clean the speaker now.
